Modern Slavery Statement
Introduction
The Modern Slavery Act 2015 outlines that LumenUK Ltd must prepare a modern slavery and human trafficking statement for each financial year.
The Company
This statement applies to LumenUK Ltd, referred to in this statement as “the Company”.
Our Business
LumenUK Ltd is a private limited company and an industry-leading manufacturer and distributor of lighting products, emphasising innovation, diverse product offerings and customer loyalty.
Definitions
The Company considers that modern slavery encompasses:
- Human trafficking.
- Forced work through mental or physical threat.
- Being owned or controlled by an employer through mental or physical abuse, or the threat of abuse.
- Being dehumanised, treated as a commodity or being bought or sold as property.
- Being physically constrained or having restrictions placed on freedom of movement.
Commitment
LumenUK Ltd acknowledges its responsibilities in relation to tackling modern slavery and is committed to complying with the provisions of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We understand that this requires an ongoing review of both our internal practices in relation to our workforce and our supply chains.
We do not enter into business with any other organisation, in the United Kingdom or abroad, which knowingly supports or is found to involve itself in slavery, servitude, or forced or compulsory labour.
No labour provided to the Company is obtained through slavery or human trafficking. We strictly adhere to the standards required in relation to our responsibilities under relevant UK employment legislation.
Our policy statement is available to all employees through the Company’s HR information system. It is also included in our Employee Handbook, which is issued to all employees.
Compliance
All employees are required to:
- Read, understand and comply with this policy, and avoid any activity that might lead to, or suggest, a breach of this policy.
- Notify their immediate manager as soon as possible if they suspect that a conflict with this policy has occurred or may occur in the future.
Assessing and Managing Risk
LumenUK Ltd seeks to develop supply chains with reputable and transparent businesses operating globally, where strict and enforced regulations help ensure the fair and ethical treatment of employees.
The Company considers its exposure to slavery and human trafficking to be relatively limited. To the best of its knowledge, the Company has not conducted business with any organisation found to have been involved in modern slavery.
Management at all levels is responsible for ensuring that those reporting to them understand and comply with this policy.
In accordance with section 54(4) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, the Company has taken the following steps to help ensure that modern slavery is not taking place:
- Periodic audits are expected to confirm that our major suppliers comply with modern slavery legal requirements.
- Corrective action plans and measures will be implemented for suppliers that fail to comply with this policy.
Ongoing Review
LumenUK Ltd will review its supply chain and internal operations to ensure continued compliance with this policy.
The Directors will review the Company’s statement in pursuance of section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. This statement will be reviewed during each financial year.
